Community Radio Research

Community radio is radio broadcast in a reletively local area, usually a town of large village which is there to be a more community based radio compared to the other more widespread commercial radio stations which usually supply radio to a large part of a county. Community radio stations are usually run but a handful of paid workers who maintain the station while most if not all of the presenters are usually volunteers.

Community radio stations are mainly used to supply radio around the community of a town, hence the name, and are used by many aspireing Radio presenters who wish to get into the industry but need a springboard with which to do so. To get a slot on community radio, would be presenters whos show ideas have been accepted by the station usually go through a short training course in order to prepare them for broadcasting.

There are a wide range of presenters and shows on community radio stations which allows the station to cater to a wide variety of listeners, as most shows are specialist shows which play a particular genre of music.
